Cape Town film company needs a Traceur!

(This topic is discussed in here)

If there are any traceur girls that are reading this and are in the Cape Town area, then make sure you get in touch with us ASAP so that we can see if you might be who they are looking for!

Recently we received a request from a filming company in Cape Town looking for female Traceurs. Although it was a bit short notice, I sent out e-mails to everyone registered on our database.

(If you are not on the database yet, then head straight to the main homepage and scroll to the bottom of that page. You will find a "Mailing List" box. Just enter your e-mail in there and click "GO!" and then you're on!)

A few of the guys responded and I passed the details through, however it seems as though they were definitely only looking for female traceurs. Sorry guys.. :-(

This is a snippet of the mail that was sent back to me from the company:

"Thanks so much for your efforts. Unfortunately our client is very specific about using a girl ... We will keep in touch though as I'm sure there are possibilities of using your guys for future projects."

But as you see, they will be in touch again should something else come up. So don't despair.

Good Luck and keep practising…

The first exhibition jam has been completed and by all accounts it went off without a hitch. Urban Music Festival
I was fortunate enough to be one of the Traceurs who got the opportunity to represent Parkour at this years Urban Music Festival held at Earls Court in London. We, Team Traceur (TT), joined forces with Seidojin and in partnership with Nokia, had a Parkour Park specifically built for us to session on. The main music event itself had the likes of Xzibit and Will Smith to name but a few. Check out the official website to see what else was on. more details..

David Bell in South Africa
The father of Parkour himself is rumoured to be heading our way. Yes, according to the PAWA website, he is to touch down on South African soil as part of his worldwide tour. Once we hear more ... be assured that you will hear it first. Join in on the discussion about it here..

First Exhibition Jam!

Congratulations to us all!

PKSA has had its first corporately attended exhibition jam, with exposure and future event incorporations in mind. The event, organized by Khomanani Marketing (a division of 2one4) for Lucky Strike, was attended by representatives from Lucky Strike as well as 94.7, Highveld Stereo and Red Bull (thanks for the refreshments guys!).

The exhibition was held at The Zone, Rosebank. Two spots were made available for use, but as rain hampered safety, we avoided our rooftop spot and went straight to our staircase spot, at the Mutual Gardens. As we’re lacking exposure, it was quite difficult for us to organize spots that were really good in terms of verity in a limited physical space, and so the spots we gained access too, weren’t perfect as such…

None the less, the guys figured out some really nice runs, with as much verity and flow as could be mustered, and in the end I think, it was great! The traceurs in attendance were:
Specs
JaX
DNK
Zeorin
Kusin IT
kiwi
Baxter (came all the way from CT for the jam, thanks for the effort!)

Baxter and I (Specs) kicked things off after B.I.G and Specs gave the guests a little verbal introduction to Parkour and the environment we’d be demonstrating in. Our “main” run consisted of a 4 traceur run (DNK, Zeorin, JaX, Specs) which was quite well planned and executed! Thereafter we did some 2 traceur and individual runs by everyone involved. We only had 1 staircase to work with, and considering that, we had some great verity and runs to showcase some of what Parkour is about.

In all the exhibition was short and sweet, but our guests were quite happy with what they’d seen. We got an especially good response from 94.7, and hopefully we’ll have more to say about that soon…

We’ll have some photos and hopefully video clips up soon for your viewing pleasure!

Lastly, but very importantly, thanks to the traceurs! Thanks to Kirstin for organizing the event, and thanks to the individuals who attended! This will, at least, get the PKSA ball rolling in the right direction…
