A parkour gift to David Belle, from the traceurs in South Africa!

Saturday morning 9am on the birthday of the founder of the sport, celebrating in the only way that is appropriate, im going training!

As i walk to the meeting area i see a single person sitting there, he looks like he was waiting for someone so i assume that it is our South American Friend, Guico. I was right,I greeted him and just as we started talking a silver beetle pulled up, oscar and paws had arrived. We made the introductions as the final members of the party finally rocked up, toast and ultima had arrived.

We all started warming up,doing various different stretches, small precisions and vaults to get into it. The forrest monkey warm up drew some interesting looks from onlookers but this just made the other traceurs who were stretching laugh.
Soon ultima paws and I were starting to link some moves together,While Guico oscar and toast worked on their vaults. Ultima and i were talking about a kong to precision when we suddenly saw dissappear from view, he had missed his landing on quite a difficult precision and had fallen backwards behing the brick wall, this would turn out to only be the start of what would turn out to be a rough day for everyones favourite cat.

Paws, ultima and I, then focused on the other three traceurs trying to improve their ability particularly on kongs.

We tired of this area so we went to the next one, everyone was in a good mood, we were joking about everything and anything as we made our way to the second area, Guico fitting like he had been training with us for months. As soon as we were there we got back into the mindset and tackled these obsticles for a while, ultima nearly bailing out on a kong to cat, which made the old italian man shout at us telling us that we would break everything there, as well as a delivery truck parking in the way created a vibe that kinda ruined this area!

Third on the list was the front of pick and pay, ultima and i worked hard to help the others with their kong to precisions. Then came the second occasion when we lost paws, ultima and i konged a power box, when paws tried his knee argued with it,and paws dissappeard over the other side with a loud thud! The power box came of second best, there was now a decent dent in it!!

We jammed the shopping center next but there were people in the area we wanted to train playing war games. A girl came along and took some video footage and made ultimas day!!That was until we went outside and he and i both nailed a dash to precision. Toast and paws both successfully land kongs to precision and oscar and Guico gave it a good try but just kept falling short of the distance.

Then it was time for the library and the kong to precision over a gap, safely the biggest thing i had ever done in my parkour career, the others we keen to see it and i was even more keen to do it. I got into the mindset and went for it, i landed it cleanly. I had been talking to Ultima about a dream i had had the night before in which i had dashed to precision this gap. Ultima asked me if i was keen to try it,and i knew exactly what he ment. so he and i went to the side and i started drilling the dash where there wasnt another wall i was confident that i could do it, so i went back to the jump and got back into the mindstate to do it. With Ultima ready to spot me if anything went wrong i measured my run up and went for it.When i landed safely on the otherside both ultima and i went insane shouting and screaming,we told the others who were training nearby and they joined in with the celebrating, we went absolutely wild!!

I did it twice more to be sure of it!

We warmed down after nearly four hours of training, then went for a beer and chips, we cheersed our new friend Guico, we cheersed David belle and then we cheersed ourselves for the huge improvement witnessed today by all traceurs involved!!

We werent content with this much training in one day so five hours later Ultima Guico and I had a little training jam in the evening for about an hour and a half around rosebank and showed Guico some of our favourite spots in the area. Now totally drained we made our way home after a very successfull day!

Happy Birthday David this was for you!!

For some this will be ancient news already, but for those of you who have not yet heard ... obviously hidden away in your caves and deep underground training and refining your parkour skills ... Sebastien Foucan, star of the Jump London documentary, has been cast to play the role of Mollaka in the new James Bond movie: Casino Royale.

(the following excerpt and image is taken from commanderbond.net)

"Sebastien Foucan gained stardom throughout much of the world when the gymnastics enthusiast helped invent freerunning, a gravity-defying sport that received exposure in the U.S. via a series of Nike commercials. Now Foucan will employ his high-jumping, obstacle-evading abilities while engaging the new James Bond in one of the most ambitious chase sequences in the history of the action series. Foucan will make his acting debut as Mollaka, a terrorist targeted by Daniel Craig's Bond during an early sequence in November's 21st Bond film, "Casino Royale." When a surveillance operation goes awry, Bond is forced to chase Mollaka on foot, risking life and limb as they scurry through a shantytown and across a dangerous construction site. Currently filming in the Bahamas, "Royale" is based on Ian Fleming's first Bond novel."
