Strength Training for Girls

We know there are girls (young and old) training in South Africa at the moment, so this forum is intended for all to meet up with others in your area to discuss all sorts. Such as the differences when training together versus training with just the guys, what movements are good to start off with, anything else you've noticed recently when out training, general questions, etc. (Guys, for the most part please keep out of this forum. Girls only.)

Strength Training for Girls

Postby FliKVloOi on Wed Feb 10, 2010 4:05 pm

Most of us girls do not have the power to weight ratio and athletic ability most guys have. I would like to get some input from girls and guys on how us girls can improve our power to weight ratio.

Also remember, lots of us girls cannot even do a push-up, nevermind a pull-up or even muscle-up.

I would strongly recommend starting a basic conditioning regime which focus on the upper body muscles.

I'm speaking to a coach who works predominantly with women, and she might have some useful tips. Hopefully I can get her to one of the girls training sessions to meet you all.
